Walls

How the liquidity of the old pool is sold, moved, and locked into a pool for the new token.

A city without walls is a camp. Walls gives the new token a market that cannot be pulled.

It takes the old tokens that holders hand in, sells them slowly into the old pool, and pairs the proceeds with new tokens in a fresh pool. The LP tokens are burned. The liquidity stays forever.

What Walls holds

Walls receives two things.

  • The 5 % of the old supply minted in new tokens at forge.
  • Every old token handed in by a claim.

The new tokens wait for the new pool. The old tokens are sold.

Sweep

Anyone can call sweep(shardId). It can be called at most once per hour for each Shard.

The schedule

The first sweep starts a 72-hour schedule. Each sweep sells a slice of the old tokens pending in Walls into the old pool. The proceeds accumulate as HYPE.

The slice is proportional to time. It is the time elapsed since the last sweep, over the time left in the schedule. A sweep that comes two hours after the previous one, when 36 hours of the schedule were left, sells two thirty-sixths of what is pending.

This is a time-weighted sale, a TWAP. The old pool absorbs the selling in small pieces instead of one block.

After 72 hours, a sweep sells everything pending.

Why slowly

A single large sale would land in one block. Whoever traded around that block would take the most from it. Spread over three days, the selling meets whatever buying comes in between, and no single trade can capture it.

Raise

Anyone can call raise(shardId). It works once, and only after 72 hours have passed since the first sweep.

Raise pairs all the HYPE Walls has accumulated with the 5 % of new supply it holds. Together they form a new pool for the new token.

The LP tokens are sent to the dead address, 0x…dEaD. They are burned. No one holds them. No one can withdraw them.

Liquidity that can never be pulled.

After the walls rise

Claims have no deadline. Old tokens keep arriving after the walls are raised.

Each later sweep sells them into the old pool. The HYPE goes to the new pool:

  • half buys the new token;
  • both halves are added as liquidity;
  • the LP tokens are burned.

The walls only grow. Every late claimer adds a stone.

The old pool

The old pool is not closed. It cannot be. It belongs to the old token, which keeps existing, untouched.

As Walls sells into it, the old pool fills with old tokens and empties of HYPE. Its price falls. What remains is mostly old tokens and little HYPE.

The exiled still hold their old tokens. They can still trade them there. They trade in an empty market.

Who calls sweep

Anyone. There is no keeper and no privileged caller. Holders who want the walls raised have every reason to sweep. Gas is paid by whoever calls.

Because anyone can call sweep, a sweep can be sandwiched. A trader can move the old price before the sweep and back after it. Small hourly slices limit what a sandwich can take. See Risks and limits.

Pools on testnet

On testnet, pools are a minimal constant-product DemoPool. Each pairs HYPE with one token. Walls reaches them through a router interface.

On mainnet, a Uniswap-v2-style router can replace the DemoPool behind the same interface. The schedule and the rules stay the same.
